Can anyone clarify what was the role of AFV Technical staff in theatre HQ? I am researching an individual who served in that role and need to explain what they might have done all day long. I suspect that they will have borne the brunt of complaints about defects and deficiencies in AFV performance. Who did they communicate with and what about? I can't find a diagram or explanation of how the theatre AFV technical staff related to the War Office and/or the relevant elements of the ministry of supply.
Have you looked at AFV Technical reports? They do include lots of complaints but also good points, reports about the terrain operated in, local technical solutions, etc. I ran across a description of the type of work at the start of a war diary for the Canadian section... I guess I really should try to find it again.
