    Hi.
Been looking through my local newspaper archives and wondered if anyone could pinpoint which Battalion this chap was with?
attached photo of Raymond Povey, from Gravesend. Evidently 6th Airborne.
I can’t find any reference so far.
    Thanks.

    Alex

Absolutely bang on. I’ve probably perused those two photos a thousand times! So a good old pathfinder was from my hometown, his address is shown as the white post, which was a pub up until a few years ago. I’ve put a call out on my local FB page for any family members. I’ll post here if I get a hit.
    Thanks for your help!

Well I really should start looking in the forum first!

    From a years-gone-by thread here:

    22nd Independent parachute Company[pathfinders]

Unfortunately I don't think there will be any surviving original members of the 22nd Association around nowadays.

    Good luck with all Alex.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

Thought that this might be the same individual, but the bar-shaped marking on his shoulder strap is not familiar to me.

Looks like him. What bit are you referring to? The shoulder flash?

Thanks all. I've just noticed that brithm referenced this subject in 2012 and appears to have identified the man with the epaulets as a Corporal Jones. Have not seen other photos of him.

Oops. My bad, I should have read the full message by brithm more carefully. Was confused because the photo was named
Cpl. 'Jungle' Jones 22 IPC.jpg, but Povey's name is the one in the description.

    Hi all,

mine thing that has always puzzled me is that in the black and white photo of Capt Midwood’s stick there are 12 guys. One of these is the gentleman with the 22nd slip ins noted above so that leaves 11 and the stick list above is for 10….

Has anyone tried to identify each guy or know why there is 11?

    thanks

Is it certain that all men seated on the ground were on the stick of Robert Midwood? The Pathfinder manifest posted upthread indicates that Midwood and Raymond Povey were not assigned to jump from the aircraft shown in the picture, code 8Z-A serial V1701.

Albemarle V1701 seemed to draw special attention from the photo and film crew. I was not able to confirm this was the lead aircraft of 6th Airborne Division but going from that list of names, Francis Lennox-Boyd appears to have been the senior Pathfinder.

Believe Midwood's stick was on 8ZA V1740 as seen in photos.
