I’m a CWGC volunteer and in one of my sites is the unmarked grave of 6920213 Rifleman William Charles FOX who died 23 Feb 1944. His record shows him as 7th (HD) Battalion, Rifle Brigade. I have searched in the usual places and found nothing. Can anyone help please. His family was last asked in the 70’s and still didn’t want to mark his grave but he was in service of his country and deserves to be known?
What exactly do you need help with? Where exactly have you searched? He died 'At Home' hence his UK grave, casualty lists state KIA. The Graves Registration Report Form states "Relatives wish grave to remain unmarked" and this has obviously been respected. This was possibly his wife. Thanks for that - Death Cert is no problem - his military records are, as a non relative it’s some time before anyone else can request them. Well I tried and will continue to place an RBL cross and as its on my EOHO patch I will continue to keep it tidy and grass cut.
