RAF BBMF TO HOST CANADIAN WARPLANE HERITAGE MUSEUM LANCASTER DURING VISIT TO ENGLAND IN AUGUST 2014.
The last two Lancaster bombers still flying in the world will come together in a series of events this summer, in a meeting unlikely to happen ever again.
The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF BBMF) based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire will welcome the arrival of a very special guest during August 2014 when the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) fly their prized Avro Lancaster to the UK for a month long visit.

Some years ago I heard the distinctive roar of a lanc. in Kelowna B.C. - couldn't believe it until I followed the noise to the Airport
and was allowed to walk through the aircraft - it's the same one you will hear as it has been fully restored ..at a fair cost..but

well worth it - just to hear those engines once moreā€¦

    cheers

Difficult to park near the airport

My husband reliable informs me that Barneys Truckstop, Barnetby on the A18 is a good spot.
    Anyone else have any ideas?

I can only say that if you are lucky enough to witness them flying together, it will be a sight "Never to Forget".

I am sure that Forum members will have plenty of photographs to Show us after the Event!.

    Regards

Good idea, we'll have to see what the full itinerary is and take it from there.

temptage I thought it would only take a few weeks......

It all depends where they have the Lancaster standing. There is a possibility that they will store it in one of the Hangar's rather than leaving it out in the open if the weather turns bad. If they do keep it on the hard standings the best view will be from the Bus-stop opposite car park 2. Car Park 1 is only good for take off and landing, and the Kirmington-Caistor road viewing area is only good with binoculars as it is quite a distance from the runway and even further from any of the stands where it may be kept.

There is free parking on the airport site if you turn right at the first roundabout and park further down that road. Mind you, that will probably have changed by the time August comes around.
