Captain Dodwell, as glider pilot, has take part in two airborne operations, landing in Normandy during the liberation of France and later, in September 1944, at Arnhem. On the first occasion the landing was made in total darkness and on the later occasion, at Arnhem, in daylight. On both occasions he displayed fine airmanship and set an example of cool courage and cheerfulness, which was an inspiration to his men.
