    Hello All,

I am trying to find out which Bomb Disposal Units - RE, RN, RAF or HG - operated in west Wales - particularly Pembrokeshire - during WW2.

This research is part of a wider project re: the history of Pembroke Dock.

I have a very long list of unit records at TNA, but apart from trawling through them all, how might I find which units are of interest re: West Wales?

I know that there is huge expertise on this forum and any info, guidance, pointers would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks in anticipation.

No.8 BD company was based in Cardiff and I believe covered Wales. Go from there.

Rerun, I gave copies of some relevant files to the Sunderland Trust at Pembroke Dock last year.

PM me your email address and I should be able to fire them over to you.

    Hi,
I am just starting to look at bomb disposal for my uncle's war service.
No.8 Coy., Cardiff, Commanded by Capt. J. B. James RE., 2 Oct 1940 (later in 1942 posted to N. Africa ALgeria.)
No.8 Coy., BD Grp. 04 at Oxford, Grp. Commanded by Lt. Col. G. H. Yates MC TD RE., Grp HQ at Reading.
I am interested in No.5 Coy. and at the moment No. 64 Section. This link has all this info and more.
