that is a fair explanation of why I didn't recognise the term as it didn't last too long - this was the time when Monty finally got rid of Lt.Gen Lumsden (late '42 )who was still fighting the Battle of Balaclava - and all things changed with the

Armoured corps and we made up the British Blitzkreig which made more sense as among the changes was the TDT troop became the FDS - Forward Delivery Squadron where the replacement Tanks were held as when a Tank was lost - the

survivors could go back to the FDS and choose another Tank - as we did once and were astonished to be invited to an excellent meal topped off with Pineapple chunks and whipped cream - unforgettable when we were on hard tack - but they

had NO vacancies - just Tanks...

Quick update from another thread of mine: Bovington have advised that the 'K'

K could mean K Battalion RAC which served in Egypt between Feb and March 1943 and was a holding unit for Armoured Fighting Vehicles OR K Tank Delivery Troop (TDT) which again served in Egypt but between Oct and Dec 1942.

Hopefully the Service Records will confirm (in due course!)

looks like we have TWO threads going here as I have just answered this comment on the other one and this will lead to further confusion - which we don't need - there is enough confusion to-day already

    Cheers
