    4. ESCAPES attempted:
Did yo make any attempted or partly successful escapes? (Give details of each attempt accurately, stating where, when, method employed, names of your companions, wherein when recaptured and by whom. Were you physically fit? What happened to your companions?)

Attempted to reach British lines when Italy capitulated. First attempt failed in hills through lack of water, returned to Camp for further supplies and on second try was recaptured by Germans who were rounding up escaped P.O.Ws. in the SULMONA Area.
    2. Crossed the ELBE guarded by German Guard, left him behind near the American lines and with the exception of one man, my Lager reached the American troops on the MULDE river (April 20 - April 26)

    5. SABOTAGE
Did you do any sabotage or destruction of enemy factory plant, war material, communications, etc, when employed on working-parties or during escape? (Give details, places and dates.)

I had very little chance to commit sabotage as I have never worked or had the chance of reaching any machines or war materials. my work for the Germans has been of the poorest quality and while making cement Air Raid Shelters have neglected to reinforce them with metal, weakening them at least 50%.

    8. Have you any other matter of any kind you wish to bring to notice?

I should like to recommend to you Alfred MULLER, Owner of a Cement Factory at Ortrand, Kreis Liebenwerda, Saxony, for his very good treatment to the prisoners who were working for him. He has been a friend and helper to all prisoners in his village and has often risked his freedom doing many things for us all that was strictly forbidden under the Party Regime.
