3. INTERROGATION after capture:
Were you specially interrogated by the enemy? (State where, when and methods employed by enemy).
YES
Gestapo H.Q. ROME. After capture for one month. Solitary confinement & lack of food added with threats of being shot.
(OPPELN interrogation after 3 months solitary confinement & food shortage.)


4. ESCAPES attempted:
Did yo make any attempted or partly successful escapes? (Give details of each attempt accurately, stating where, when, method employed, names of your companions, wherein when recaptured and by whom. Were you physically fit? What happened to your companions?)
16th APR. 1945. Attempted escape from line of march. Recaptured by German Guards.
Later same night a further attempt made. Recaptured by German Guards.
Within 15 minutes of previous attempts evaded the guards & hid until the column had passed. Then marching by night made the USA 71st DIV. lines where we met a patrol. Sgt. P. HILL 5550150 accompanied me and we got through together.
