I once read that the most common recorded comment made by pilot just before a very negative air-ground interface was "SHIT."

That's a whole lot of "get out of our way". Pictured them in a ring formation, all pointy on the outside and calves in the middle, while Momma T.rex and the kits circle around looking for an opening.

My Lady and I were having a drink on the deck. Of course our presence meant that the birds were loath to approach the bird feeders.

Then one brave Dowey Woodpecker decided enough was enough. He/she was hungry (never got a good look to see if the Dowey had a red nape or not. Stayed on the far side of the feeder). Feeder was no more than 5' from us.

    Picture without zoom.

    Zoomed in.

The Dowey was quite still for a few minutes, then decided it was safe to eat. Ate the entire time we were on the deck, occasionally stopping and checking on us. Bird stayed there when we got up to go inside. Usually it was the Finches that would brave the feeders when we are sitting outside.

Seen many more Woodpeckers than normal this year. We heard them a lot when when outside.
