Same guy/gal again, I think, shadowing me yesterday as I dug over the raised border. Sadly, for him, I failed to turn up any tasty morsels. I guess the worms may have gone deeper as it’s turned colder.

I did spy a sparrow with a bow and quiver lurking in the bushes, but I saw it off.

I was thinking of calling them doves but I thought I would encourage Owen to tick me off with the correct birdology name.

Really not sure Owen. That’s the trouble with using a phone from indoors to take photos, it can be a bit blurry. Course, second I step outside the little bugger will be off. He/she is here every day, same time as the Blackbird.

The tail seems to be the same colour as the rest of the upper body, which, according to your file, points to a Song Thrush. The stats seem to point that way too, it being more common.

But in all honesty, I can’t make my mind up.

Looking at it again, though, I see white in the tail, which apparently is a feature of the Mistle.

According to the file Owen posted, a Song Thrush is smaller than a Blackbird, a Mistle is larger. The two were quite close today, so took this shot. However, and I’m not 100% sure it confirms anything, but the thrush looks smaller here.
