Our Poppy pictures.

The bee arrives for harvesting:


The petals fell off ten minutes later; their mission seemingly accomplished. A fleeting fragility now faded into memory, but to be remembered when I spread honey on my toast.

 

Saw these today in a nearby cottage garden:

They were the size of a big bramley apple. Stunning. Tempted to have a go at a painting.

Remembrance poppy cascade at St Peter's, Wellesbourne - Diocese of Coventry



I took these photographs at St Peter's Church, Wellesbourne, Warwickshire 09-11-2023.
Sadly, the plaque being of Brass, is Very Awkward to photograph !

 

I took these photographs of a Soldier's Boots on top of a Letter Box at Drayton Parslow, Bucks. This is just a few yards along from the National War Memorial, where the latest Blue Plaque to a Canadian Lancaster Bomber Crew was Dedicated on Remembrance Sunday 2023.

Out walking this morning and saw a beautiful display of these striking beauties in somebody’s front garden.

Took a few photos so I could identify them on one of those app thingies when I got back, and fortunately the householder didn’t come out with a pitchfork to question what must have looked like suspicious behaviour on my part.

Turns out it’s a California Poppy. Gonna get me some of these!
