Starting a new thread specifically for “The Reconnaissance Journal” as I have a number of copies which I will scan and post over time. These were my father’s, Sergeant 6468560 Gilbert F Anthony, 15 Troop, C Squadron, 56th Reconnaissance Regiment. He served throughout from Glasgow to Austria. To start at the beginning this is Volume 1 Number 1, I had to post in two parts, as I couldn’t get it to upload in one go. Occasionally the journals have notes written in i.e. page 18 of this edition, which says “C Sqn”, also the list of decorations on page 46 has many names underlined – my father did these so my educated guess is that these references are almost certainly to be 56 Recce. Happy reading Some while ago an upgrade was carried out to the Forum’s software and this resulted in some of the links failing to bring up the correct attachments; as a result, about a year ago, I re-posted all the journals and at the same time constructed an index. PLEASE GO TO POST #69 - THIS LINK WILL TAKE YOU THERE:- http://ww2talk.com/index.php?threads/reconnaissance-journal.28896/page-4#post-698534 I have been through and deleted all the old links to avoid confusion.
Thanks Tony56. I look forward to your next post on this thread! Incidently, do you have any information on the 61st Recce? Best, Steve.
Tony thanks for posting the start of what I am sure will be a great resource on the Recce Regt Cheers Paul
Thank you very much for posting this hopefully this will be a great resource and a great read!!! How many of the Reconnaissance Journals do you hold? There is another member on here who has them all and maybe persuaded to upload the ones you are missing. There are 23 in all with the 23rd being a roll of honour edition.
Thanks for scanning and posting it. First time I've seen a copy of the journal. See my Dad got a mention in it as well! Regards, Richard

Hello again, Tony56. I'm really enjoying the Recce Journals and especially liked the article 'FROM A N'LAND FUSILIER REGT'; which is about 'The 3rd (R.N.F.) Recce Regiment' (ex-8th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers). I look forward to more postings. Best, Steve.
